Example of Declaration of a True Covenant Marriage

(Before God)

Beloved brethren and witnesses gathered in Christ,

In reverence before the Most High Father, and under the authority of His Holy Spirit, we assemble not as agents of the world, nor as ministers of earthly institutions, but as living testimonies of the grace and truth revealed in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Hear now this solemn proclamation:

By the power entrusted unto us through faith, and in submission to the Spirit of the Living God, we bear witness to this holy union. For it is written, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). And again our Lord declares, “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder” (Mark 10:9).

Therefore, before Heaven and in the sight of these faithful witnesses, we acknowledge and affirm that this man and this woman are joined not by the authority of men, nor by the ordinances of the state, but by the covenantal hand of God Himself. This union is sanctified by His Word, sealed by faith, and upheld by divine promise.

As a disciple and servant of Christ, I testify that this covenant stands under the sovereignty of the Almighty alone. No earthly power grants it, and no earthly decree can dissolve what the Lord has established. It is a bond of spirit and truth, a holy mystery reflecting Christ and His assembly, a living testimony of love, faithfulness, and obedience unto God.

Let Heaven record it.
Let the faithful rejoice in it.
Let the couple walk steadfastly in it.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit — One God, eternal and sovereign — this covenant is witnessed, affirmed, and blessed.

Amen.
